Welcome to South Shore Animal Hospital, located at 4258 W. Houghton Lake Drive on the south shore of Houghton Lake. South Shore Animal Hospital has served the community since 1978. We recognize that fulfilling our dedication consistently is what brings you back. Consider this a promise from us to you in providing superior client service and patient care.
The time has come! The mask mandate has been lifted, and now, as of July 1st, all restrictions are being lifted as well. We will be opening for exam room appointments on July 6th. While we are beyond excited to return to normal, we will still have some regulations of our own in place.
For now, Masks will need to be worn the entire visit, no exceptions. There are a few reasons for this. First, our spaces are small, enclosed, and have poor ventilation so this is what our team feels the most comfortable with. Second, we have no way of knowing exactly who has and has not had the vaccination. We will be revisiting this policy as new information becomes available.
At this time only one person per pet will be allowed in the building. We ask that when you arrive you stay in your vehicle and give the office a call, like you have been. One of our technicians will come out to get you and escort you into the building and place you in one of our exam rooms. We ask that you stay put in that room throughout your entire visit, including the checkout process.
If you have enjoyed our curbside concierge service - GREAT NEWS – we will not be taking this away! We have found that some people really enjoy this service. Please let us know at the time of scheduling if you prefer curbside. Medication and Food will still be done curbside. As will technician appointments. Again, just call us from your car and we will be happy to come to get your beloved pet or bring you their medication and food.
During the pandemic, we have had a substantial increase in clients needing to be seen. At the current time, we will be unable to see the same number of clients in the same time frame if we start seeing everyone back inside the clinic pre-pandemic. Please make your appointments curbside when possible so that we can keep serving all our clients in our community as quickly as possible. Please be patient as we move back inside as there may be days and times that require us to make adjustments to the daily schedule.
We cannot be more thankful for your care, compassion, and understanding throughout this pandemic. We, respectfully, ask you to be mindful that our staff is mentally and emotionally exhausted from this past year and a half – we prefer to spend our energy positively on how happy we are to be seeing each of you again, rather than opposing our policies.
There will be adjustments to all of these policies in the days to come.
